TheSuiteXchange With Chanda M. Womack
We’ve all heard of Poshmark. Meet the black woman trailblazing her way into the luxury consignment industry with TheSuiteXchange.
Chanda M. Womack grew up in Milwaukee, WI as the youngest of 4 children. After high school, Chanda joined the Army and did a 4-year tour. She holds a BA degree in Communications from Georgia State University. Her desire was to become a sports reporter after having interned with the Milwaukee Bucks, Fox TV, and working as a logger at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. However, after taking and passing the GA real estate exam and obtaining her license, she has worked in the real estate field for the past 22 years acquiring property all over the country for natural gas pipeline projects.
In addition to having a love for entrepreneurship, Chanda has a passion for fashion and style. She developed her sense of style from both her parents who were always dressed to the nines. “Both my parents loved hats and I developed a love for hats and have acquired a collection of over 50 hats; many of them vintage.
Having worked all around the country, Chanda developed her love for resell and thrift shopping and it became her passion to always be on the hunt for the next big find; designer pieces at deep, discounted prices. “Some of my biggest wins have been finding authentic designer pieces at small thrift shops around the country”.
In 2017, Chanda started a mobile resell and consignment boutique in Atlanta along with her daughter who is a makeup artist. They would visit clients’ homes and allow them to shop directly from her mobile boutique. In 2020, when COVID-19 hit, she was forced to look for a new way to sell her items. She researched the online resell market and how that industry was booming, now that everyone was shopping online, she decided that she wanted to enter into the market. She hired a team to develop a peer-to-peer, multi-vendor eCommerce platform that would allow her to sell her items along with other resell enthusiasts, fashion icons, and influencers looking to resell items they owned. “Every woman I know cleans out her closet only to make room for more…Of course! Chanda says.
Thesuitexchange was launched on November 26, 2021, on Black Friday. Chanda has pledged to become the first African American-owned major resell brand with national recognition. The brand’s slogan asks, “What is in your closet”?
Chanda currently resides in the metro Atlanta area and is the mother of three adult children; two sons and one daughter and a grandmother “Cha Cha” to one grandson.
